Beverly Armstrong

Beverly is a native of Beaumont, Texas and has been a resident of Houston, Texas since 1990. She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a J.D. from South Texas College of Law.

Beverly has been a public servant most of her legal career. As a licensed attorney for 24 years, she began her career helping families navigate probate and guardianship issues and guiding families through bankruptcy proceedings. She discovered her passion for criminal justice when she accepted a position as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney in Polk County. After three years as a Court Chief in Galveston County, she returned to Polk County as First Assistant. In total, Beverly has served as a Prosecutor for 15+ years.

Over the course of her prosecutorial career, Beverly handled numerous serious cases such as murder, aggravated assault, robbery, and child sexual assault cases amongst a number of other felonies.

As Judge of the 208th Criminal District Court, Beverly has consistently set high bonds on violent cases. She has set No Bonds in cases where the proper procedure set by the constitution has been followed. Additionally, she imposes strict bond conditions on defendants who must be released on bond.

During her 1st term, she has tried 35 cases and this number continues to rise. She consistently maintains a clearance rate of over 100%. Additionally, she has reduced the pending cases in the 208th court by more than 1000 and she has reduced the pending cases over 1000 days old by 25%. Judge Armstrong has a mission of treating everyone in her courtroom with dignity and respect and she requires her staff to follow her example.

PERSONAL

Beverly is a wife, a mother of two, a daughter, and a friend of the community.

She is a member of the Association of Women Attorneys, Houston Lawyers Association, Humble Area Democrats, Houston Black American Democrats, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Mu Kappa Omega Chapter. She is an active member of her church where she serves as a Communion Steward and Trustee.
